When Fitness Fell Off my Radar

I have not worked out even one time this week. it is currently thursday. Granted it was the first week of school, and my schedule was pretty packed. I met up with some high school friends for brunch on monday, then I had to wait for an hour(!!!) in line at the gym to register for Boxercise. Apparently boxercise "not only burns fat, but improves cardiovascular conditioning while toning and strengthening the body". We shadow box, skip, and do combos. I used to kickbox back in the day and it really helped me get it shape, so I'm really excited for tuesday (which is when the class starts).
Today, after numerous phone calls and meetings, I finally finalized my schedule for the winter semester. Its the biggest course load I have ever taken but I think I can handle it, as long as I manage my time properly and make school my first priority. Courses include: History of China, Law and Society in Canadian History, Theology, History of Europe 2 and Business Law. Should be fun.
I am doing an online Challenge to get Organized, and they made us write out the 10 goals we want to achieve this year (2011). Here are mine:

1. Get fitness training certifications
2. Get Driver’s License
3. Reach Goal weight
4. Get a 3.0 + GPA
5. Save more money
6. Get Steady Winter job ← Push Goal
7. Write a piece for a student newspaper
8. Follow through with the blog
9. Run a half-marathon or a race (with my mom?)
10. Get work experience outside of food service

The "Push Goal" is the goal that will make the other goals happen. The reason getting a steady winter job is my push goal is because:
1. I will earn money to pay for the certifications
2. I will earn money to pay for my driver's license
3. I will earn money to pay for personal training sessions/ classes/ healthier foods etc.
4. It will push me out of my bagel comfort zone
5. Ill have funner and newer things to write about on the blog

This weekend I'm going up north where I am going to cook dinner for my fam, finish writing my application essay to intern at Fashion Magazine, an do all the readings fro next week.

cheerio!

This is the first WEEK of 2011.
Last week I committed myself to 3 yoga classes, 1 spin, and 1 run. The run didn't get done :(, so I'm planning on doing it today before my staff meeting.
This week I'm challenging myself to not eat sugar the whole week. I'm going to stick to fruit. I can eat whatever else I want even if its chips, fries, whatever. I can eat it, as long as its not sugary.
Plans for the day include:
- brunch with high school friends
- Spending my chapter gift certificate
- Registering at the school gym
- Handing out CVs
-Some phone calls
-Staff meeting at 530
-cranium
-movie? (the fighter with Mark Whalberg...)

2011!!

Its 2011 baby!
This year i have 20 small resolutions, but I mainly want to be happy and healthy. I wish the same for everyone i love this year. I also want to get good grades and eat more at home.
My NYE was spent with Scott at home. We ate chinese food and watched Rocky Balboa, Legally Blonde, and the beginning of the town. It was pleasant and relaxing, a great way to start the new year. Tomorrow is work, and then school starts again on monday (!!!). Crazy.
What did you do last night?

THAT was supposed to be the Boca burger i was to eat yesterday at Bonnies. Instead, i had some a greek salad with what IM SURE was Kraft italian dressing (yaaaack). I was going to have a locally brewed hibiscus beer. Instead, I had a pint of coors light. But the company was good, even though the food was lacking, so the night was not a total miss.

Today's workout was a quick 30 minutes of cross-counrty skiing before a brutal 9 hour shift at work. (Though some people work there from 5am till 8pm, so I shouldn't complain. But I'm still gunna)

Plans for tomorrow include: - taking Zoe's spin class for the first time
- Using the cool elliptical at her fancy gym
-Dropping my CV off at Baton Rouge (I'm passively looking for a hostessing job)
- Hitting up hot yoga with my dad
- Going downtown to drop off more CVs, spend my chapters gift card, buy scott skates
- Going skating on the mountain with scott, then ordering chinese and watching the Town.
Happy New Year Folks!!

As far as my lululemon challenge goes ( 3 yoga, 2 spin, 1 run) I am going to fail. SO, I'll change the goal to 3 yoga, 1 spin, 2 runs). The reason im changing it is because I work thursday and sunday, saturday is new years day so gyms are closed. the only day I can spin is friday! oh well.

But, I did my second yoga class today at noon. It was a moksha yoga POWER FLOW. bru-tal.
I modified and I took a few breaks (30 seconds at most). I struggled, occasionally gave up, sometimes powered through.
Now im off to eat at Bonnie's, a vegetarian restaurant around St-Henri with all my vegetarian friends. Quinoa Taboule, here i come!

2011- lets try again

Its 2011, lets try this thing again.
This year I have some new goals...
Fitness-wise, I'd like to take up yoga again. There are several reasons this is my main fitness goal for this year. The first is that it is a bonding activity I can do with my dad, who is a hard-core hot yoga enthusiast (Actually yoga is a common hobby for several members of my family, including my grandmother, who practices twice a week at my university!). The second reason is that in the past, I've avoided yoga because its SO HARD. If its hard for me, I should try even harder to become good at it. I did my first yoga class in a long time yesterday. My goal was to complete the class without taking a break, even if I had to swallow my pride and to modified flows a few times. I accomplished the goal and was rewarded with burning pecs, shoulders, and abs this morning.

Academically I'm reaching pretty far this year. I just finished my first year of university this month, and I recently made a big decision. I've been majoring in History (which really is my passion, and I hope to get a PhD in history later in life), but have decided to switch the JMSB, the business school in my university. I'm hoping to get into the Co-op program, in which i would get the opportunity to work for credits and gain a lot of valuable experience. While its very very VERY likely that i WONT get in, I am still going to try. If i don't, Ill still transfer to the business school and start studying marketing (I still hope to get my masters in History after I finish my Bachelors)

This year I am also going to set teeny tiny daily, weekly, or hourly goals for myself that will help motivate me along the way.
This week I've been challenged (via twitter, by @lululemon) to do 3 yoga classes and 2 runs. i modified the challenge, and i hope to do 3 yoga classes, 2 spin classes (one taught by my cousin and roommate), and one run outside. Can you believe I've never taken one of Zoe's spin classes? Maybe I'm subconsciously afraid of what she'll do to me, I hear her class kicks serious ass...

Heres to hoping I can integrate into the blogging world I love so much, and that I can update every few days.

Ciao for now!
