This year she climbed mount Kilamansomething all by herself, and shes really fit and she was really cute in Valentine's Day.

THAT was supposed to be the Boca burger i was to eat yesterday at Bonnies. Instead, i had some a greek salad with what IM SURE was Kraft italian dressing (yaaaack). I was going to have a locally brewed hibiscus beer. Instead, I had a pint of coors light. But the company was good, even though the food was lacking, so the night was not a total miss.

Today's workout was a quick 30 minutes of cross-counrty skiing before a brutal 9 hour shift at work. (Though some people work there from 5am till 8pm, so I shouldn't complain. But I'm still gunna)

Plans for tomorrow include: - taking Zoe's spin class for the first time
- Using the cool elliptical at her fancy gym
-Dropping my CV off at Baton Rouge (I'm passively looking for a hostessing job)
- Hitting up hot yoga with my dad
- Going downtown to drop off more CVs, spend my chapters gift card, buy scott skates
- Going skating on the mountain with scott, then ordering chinese and watching the Town.
Happy New Year Folks!!

As far as my lululemon challenge goes ( 3 yoga, 2 spin, 1 run) I am going to fail. SO, I'll change the goal to 3 yoga, 1 spin, 2 runs). The reason im changing it is because I work thursday and sunday, saturday is new years day so gyms are closed. the only day I can spin is friday! oh well.

But, I did my second yoga class today at noon. It was a moksha yoga POWER FLOW. bru-tal.
I modified and I took a few breaks (30 seconds at most). I struggled, occasionally gave up, sometimes powered through.
Now im off to eat at Bonnie's, a vegetarian restaurant around St-Henri with all my vegetarian friends. Quinoa Taboule, here i come!

2011- lets try again

Its 2011, lets try this thing again.
This year I have some new goals...
Fitness-wise, I'd like to take up yoga again. There are several reasons this is my main fitness goal for this year. The first is that it is a bonding activity I can do with my dad, who is a hard-core hot yoga enthusiast (Actually yoga is a common hobby for several members of my family, including my grandmother, who practices twice a week at my university!). The second reason is that in the past, I've avoided yoga because its SO HARD. If its hard for me, I should try even harder to become good at it. I did my first yoga class in a long time yesterday. My goal was to complete the class without taking a break, even if I had to swallow my pride and to modified flows a few times. I accomplished the goal and was rewarded with burning pecs, shoulders, and abs this morning.

Academically I'm reaching pretty far this year. I just finished my first year of university this month, and I recently made a big decision. I've been majoring in History (which really is my passion, and I hope to get a PhD in history later in life), but have decided to switch the JMSB, the business school in my university. I'm hoping to get into the Co-op program, in which i would get the opportunity to work for credits and gain a lot of valuable experience. While its very very VERY likely that i WONT get in, I am still going to try. If i don't, Ill still transfer to the business school and start studying marketing (I still hope to get my masters in History after I finish my Bachelors)

This year I am also going to set teeny tiny daily, weekly, or hourly goals for myself that will help motivate me along the way.
This week I've been challenged (via twitter, by @lululemon) to do 3 yoga classes and 2 runs. i modified the challenge, and i hope to do 3 yoga classes, 2 spin classes (one taught by my cousin and roommate), and one run outside. Can you believe I've never taken one of Zoe's spin classes? Maybe I'm subconsciously afraid of what she'll do to me, I hear her class kicks serious ass...

Heres to hoping I can integrate into the blogging world I love so much, and that I can update every few days.

Ciao for now!

SUMMER FITNESS PROJECT

I NEED SUPPORTERS AND PEOPLE TO JOIN ME IN MY SUMMER CHALLENGE.

my goal: GET RIPPED.

This here is my friend Jillian Micheals...SUPERTRAINER on the Biggest Loser (favvvee show!). She has this DVD called 30 day Shred, which I have started to do. You do it for 30 days, and its supposed to help you lose those LAST TEN POUNDS (I don't need to lose ten pounds, so I probably won't. I just want to get toned as H*LL). Then she has a book out called Making the Cut. Its a 30 day eating and working out program, which I'm going to start doing next week.
this is the DVD:

heres just a sample of this.
After finishing this at home program I am going to invest in P90X. A family friend and my trigger point therapist (OUCH) said her friend did this and loved in, and Demi Moore and PINK do it too (or so Life and Style told me). Its pretty expensive (100$ or so for 13 DVDs. Im going to get mine on Ebay but its officially sold at beachbody.com or something like that. Anyways, whoever wants to join me in getting ripped, LET ME KNOW.

EASY, BREEZY, HEALTHY?!

Today I'm going to shed light on how easy it is to have great, healthy, and delicious snacks ready to go on busy days. All you have to do is buy some tupperware. When you buy produce, it often goes bad before you have a chance to eat it because when you actually get hungry you grab something pre-packaged and quick. Lets face it, most of us are BUSY. So, here's the plan. Many students like me (grownups too, i suppose) waste tons of time watching videos on youtube, listening to music, or streaming shows on the internet. I suggest everyone bring their laptop into the kitchen. When you have 15 minutes free, use it to wash, cut and store your fruits and veggies for the week AND to watch that funny video everyone has been talking about. That way, you will be able to grab something super-healthy when you leave the house. You won't even be tempted by the candy bars at the pharmacy if you know you have fresh fruits or veggies in your bag. Below are some of my tupperware/ziplock bags:

And here are a few thanksgiving eats:

In other news, I GOT A 98% ON MY PHILOSOPHY FINAL!! BOOOOYA. AND i am planning, over the summer, on getting my peronal trainer certification and well as becoming a certified nutrition and wellness specialist...We'll see what happens but I am confident that by September I well be a certified health freak (except on Sunday nights...wine, cheese, baguette, ice cream...yes please!)

First Post!

Goodmorning! This is my first post and I would
just like to explain what this blog is going to be all about. At 19 years old, working hard at school and working medium-hard at work, a healthy diet is pretty hard to maintain. However, I would like to start learning to cook healthily and, of course, dee-liciously. Also, being a regular at my university gym, I decided to step up my fitness level by signing up for my first 5k with my cousin, on April 11th. So, despite a back injury, I've been training for said race (on the elliptical and with short sprints, I'm not totally ready to run yet, and I have to start Pilates soonbecause a strong core = a not sore back)
I started my cooking experiment with 2 delicious things:
1) a raw breakfst cookie, courtesy of fitnessista.com (inspiration for this blog)
2) Spinach and turkey burger with goat cheese and mango salsa...SPEECHLESS. I am already an ah-mazing cook obviously.

tah tah for now!

Soph

ps. Will post pictures of said food tomorrow
